I heard somewhere that you could use a old frigerator compressor for a source of vaccuum I have 2 and i cant seem to get either one to create a vaccuum What am i doing wrong ?

Werte the refrigerators working, before you removed the compressors? If robbed from a fridge on the junk pile, they may have been discarded because the compressor had failed.
