Variable Pitch Plane from Bridge City

I got a really nice mailer today from Bridge City advertising their variable-pitch bench plane. Looks awesome! However, when I looked at the back of the mailer I found they’re selling a limited edition “signature” series only…for $1500!
I tried checking their web site to see if a more affordable version will be available but the site seems to be ill.
Anybody know anything about this plane? For the price of a new Unisaw it should be excellent…

Bridge City Tools is more like a tool club for high end planes, squares, marking guages, etc...... They sell their commemorative edition planes and tools every year with advanced purchase from their members only club. I have several of their tools, and they are exquisite. However, they are not inexpensive. Most of their planes are well over 500 bucks. When they stop the run, that's it, no more to buy, and they don't sell to you unless you join the club and pay their membership fees.
