Variable speed router power switch
I will soon begin building a new router table. I have the Jessum Mast-R-Table, Fence, and Lift. I will also be using my new PC 7518 (that’s a heavy dude).
Since the Router is variable speed, I would like to utilize a variable speed power switch instead of having to go into the router compartment and feel around for the VS switch.
Anyone out there using a VS (P) switch on their router table. If so, I would appreciate comments on one’s experience and get some recommendations as to where I can purchase one

Trade in your PC 7518 and get a Milwaukee 5625. The Milwaukee speed control and on/off switch are on the same side. This design makes it very easy to use when mounted in a router table. With the Milwaukee I can make a speed change without looking for the control most of the time. The PC 7518 speed control and power switch are on opposite sides. Also, you get 36 speeds with the Milwaukee, the PC has 5 speeds.
Life is what happens to you when you're making other plans .

Thanks for the tip. That is not an option for me now. I just received the 7518 a couple weeks ago. Maybe soemone else will consider the Milwaukee.
I mounted my PC 890 rotated 120 degrees from where intended. Speed control and height adjustment are easily accessible from underneath in front. I wasted money buying a kit with height adjustment tool! Just a thought. LOL!!!Cadiddlehopper
Sorry, You can not add on a seperate VS unit to the 7518, It will mess up the electronics. The add on VS controlers can only added to NON_VS Universal motors(Brush type). Sorry. At work we have the very same set-up your planning on and I have no problems using it at all. We have the VS switch located in the forward position.
Work Safe, Count to 10 when your done for the day !!

Thanks for the heads up on the electronic trouble trying to use a vs switch. I will consider the accessability of the switch when mounting the router in the lift.
You will like the PC router. I have one on my table and have no trouble with the speed selection. The Millwaukee is also a great router; but, who needs 36 speeds settings? Too much!!!! Have fun setting up your NEW router table. Just a great part of Woodworking!!!!Ray
Ditto to Bruce: Don't do it!
