Going to turn 24” high vase from walnut or cherry. How difficult will it be to hollow out the middle of the vase going into end grain?

Pretty easy with a drill chuck in the tailstock. I have a 12” extension I use with various drill bits.
This one was like 18”. Ebonized white oak. I just used a 1” forstner bit then a straight tool to get the interior to my liking.

Define 'hollow'
If you want a nice thin even wall all the way down then it's expert level and likely far beyond anyone who needs to ask. Sorry.
If you are happy with a drilled hole, which is perfect for most uses, it's not too hard. Take it slow...
