Dear Peter and all,
We have recently acquired this table with a veneered top and cherry finish. It has numerous stains from moisture that I assume are from hot foods and glasses used directly on the surface. I have no experience with veneers. Is there anyway that I can restore this without replacing the top? Thanks, flytieguy

If the stains on the top are white it's not as much of a problem than if they are black.
Often you can "release" a white stain by making a bob with cheesecloth and putting a thin cotton cover over it. To this I would add a small amount of denatured alcohol until it is cool to the touch but not wet. You can use this bob on the white spot by going over it in a repeated pendulum motion and just skimming the surface.
Be careful doing this as you can remove your finish also.
If they are black, it's usually a water stain in the veneer and rather difficult to rectify without damaging it.
A "cherry finish" just denotes the color. Without more info, it's difficult to give you advice.
You would probably do well to seek out a restorer in your area for advice. Don't expect it for free though.
Peter
