Hey Matt…I’m new to veneering. Don’t want to invest $$ in a vacuum press…but want dependable results. Is the spray adhesive “Super 90” OK to use? Not the 77 stuff….I know that’s not as strong. My surface is fairly small: 6 inches by 24 inches, on MDF, and I’ll clamp, of course. Any advice much appreciated–took a look thru the discussion boards but didn’t see anything on this. Guys at the veneer store were non-committal on this approach, which kinda bothered me.

I wouldn't recommend a spray adhesive for the same reason I wouldn't recommend contact cement, which is also sometimes pitched for veneer work. I'm no glue chemist but I don't think those types of adhesives are designed to deal with wood movement, which is an issue even with veneer. You may end up with an imperfect surface over time.
Your best bet is standard yellow wood glue. If your MDF panel is flat, the glue-up is just a matter of sandwiching the veneered panel between a few sheets of MDF and pressing it tightly with a bunch of clamps. Take a look at some of the articles and videos in our Veneering section for some ideas:

There's a video series by William Duckworth on veneering an MDF panel that should help, and a recent tip by reader Chad Husting on an easy technique with yellow glue and a household iron.
