Thank you for taking the time to read this and help. I plan on making a coffee table with a pine core veneered with burled bubinga with a two inch mahogany boarder going around. My question is for the underside of the table top, do I need to use the same veneer as the top or can I use a cheaper straight grained veneer?
Thank you
Chris

If the "pine core" will be edge glued boards, there is a chance that the joints in the core will telegraph through the veneer at some point in time. Might be in a few years, maybe a few decades.
