I have been struggling with a clear epoxy finish used on exterior furniture. My problem area is the legs., I apply 3 coats, then sand to a smooth (faired) surface and then apply 4 additional coats. although film thickness appears sufficient I am still exposing bare wood on the the corners of the legs. Is there any way to provide a thicker coating in these areas? I am applying the epoxy by brush, as the cross section of the legs is just 1″x 3/4″ at the problem area. I do wet sand the legs by hand before polish, but I am still sanding thru the outside corners, which forces me to start the 4 coat phase all over. I haven’t been able to identify a common denominator yet as they all seem to happen at different stages and locations. The exposed wood is only 1 or 2 inches long and appears like a pencil mark or smudge on the edge of the leg, 95% percent of the edges finishes out fine. I am thinking it is a technique problem or error in my application. But my frame of mind is deterioating to fast to recognize it.
thank you,

Harold,
Sometimes easing the wood on the corners a little bit more before applying finish will help. The finish may seem to flow away from a sharp corner rather than wrap around it. Other than that you may just need to use a little more caution when sanding those areas.

thank you so much,
that makes sense, much the same way that water will arc above the rim of a glass when full. I will try ....I do like the sharp contrest between intersecting planes and the shadows that it creates but it may just not work. thank you for your help I will let you know how it turns out...
thank you again
