I need a panel saw and am thinking of getting a vertical one, because I don’t have space for a full sliding table saw in my shop. Any of you using one? Any suggestions? thanks. —geoff

I too have a small shop, and every tool has to justify its airspace. I thought about a panel saw, but the wall space is too valuable to lose. Instead I use a straightedge jig and a circular saw. It makes as good a cut as a panel saw would -- straight, and little chipping of face veneers. It takes more time to set up each cut than a panel saw would, but it absorbs almost no space when I'm not using it.
