video on How to use router to cut inlay
Is there a online video on using the Router with brass bushings to cut an inlay?
I have the Porter Cable with optional base and brass bushings but have never used. I want to make a template out of aluminum plate. I want to make some inserts of ebony in the base of some wooden hand planes. Comments on how to measure the template and which bits to use to get a snap fit?

There is some info here about using router inlay kit.
http://www.eagleamerica.com In the search box put in the part number 400-1312 On that page there are instructions for the inlay kit too.
The Kit uses a 1/8" spiral upcut bit so I would suggest getting at least one back-up bit. And use it very gingerly, those little buggers like to break if you start "hogging". My preferred method of using it is to only do the perimeters with the 1/8" spiral and hog out the center of the field with a 1/4" spiral upcut bit. Would also suggest to make the inlay as thin as possible, 1/16"- 3/32" preferred, 1/8" is pushing the bit twards breakage.
I would also suggest using a plunge router, "rolling" in a fixed base router can lead to bit breakage.

One caveat here: Zero experience at complimentary routing? Expect some adversity in simple materials (wood, ply, mdf).
Unless you have plenty of priors, do not make your first templet out of aluminum.
Way too many surprises with inside cuts and this stuff will require plunge routing in very small increments. The risk of breaking the cutter and spoiling the work is likely.
Routs Aluminum, plastic and wood.
Not a video but a how-to for using a router inlay kit. The same principles can be used for bushing you make or purchase.
Sizing between bushings is the key.
