Is there any way to get the messages displayed as headers like they used to be. I dislike not being able to pick and choose among the threads I am interested in.

Under your definition, Omar Bin Laden is a wise man.
Only if you accept that statement as the sum total of all wisdom in the world. Otherwise that is one of the attributes of a wise man.(-:The fool does what makes himself fell good; the wise man does what makes him feel good about himself.

You can assign priorities to the threads. At the bottom of the discussion is where you can Ignore or set High Priority (default is Neutral). When you post in a thread, or originate it, be automatically becomes High Priority and you can specifically request a list (right-hand pane) of topics of High Interest by using the drop-down menu under "Show discussions...."
