Hello, I’m hoping for some direction. I’m refurbishing two Dixie Act II Bachelor’s Chests with campaign hardware. Unfortunately, the brass plating on one of the eight hinges is damaged. I’d love to find a replacement for it. Does anyone have possible leads on a source? The pieces are probably from the 1970s.

Maybe it's a stupid question, but why can't you just re-plate it?
I didn't know that was a possibility. I'll look into how that's done. Thanks!
I'm not sure of the specifics, but there's a mechanical way that's probably the easiest for a one-time thing.
However, it may be worth setting up for the chemical process if you're in this situation often.
It should be really easy to find on YT or Google.
Its the electro part in electroplating that gets complicated.
Its not very complicated. Although complicated, is quite relative.
It is simple, low-cost, and straightforward to get going on electroplating.
The manual method is straightforward as well. You use brass wire and a wire wheel on a grinder, or something like that, at least.
Last time I saw a minimum on plating services it was either $300 or $500.
Horton Brass sells a lot of hinges and styles and is really good quality. I'd try getting it replated first if possible.
