Just got my Voyager and having trouble working the programs. Is there a youtube or a good book with step by step procedures?
Thank you for your help.

Are you referring to the Nova Voyager DVR drill press? If so there are many YouTube videos out there. I know several of us here also own one and would be glad to help. Is there a specific issue you are having trouble with?
Thanks for the reply. I think I have looked at most of the youtube videos. I can set the speed for the bit used, for the wood. The first function I would like to do is set the depth which I have not done to this date.
Thank you, Jay
Hi Jay,
To be honest I hadn’t tried the electronic depth stop until now. Prior to this I just used the mechanical one. After playing with it a bit I believe I understand it now.
Here are the steps I used:
1. Press the menu and select the second item “user set depth” (press in on the knob)
2. Rotate the knob to select the depth. Note this will be relative to the zero position of the quill, which unless you set this it will be all the way up. More on this in a bit.
3. Press the zero/confirm button to save.
4. Press the On button to start the drill and rotate the down feed handle. The drill will start beeping as you get close to the stop point. As you go further it will beep rapidly and then the motor will stop when you reach your set point.
It seems to me that as you approach the set point you should go very slow since it’s not really a positive stop. The motor just stops. The slower you go near the set point the more accurate the depth will be.
Important note on setting the stop point - since “zero” is the quill all the way up you have two options to set the depth of a blind hole.
1. Add the distance from the tip of your bit to the top of your work piece to the depth of the hole you want - this is not convenient.
2. A better way. Set the User Set Depth to the depth of the hole you want. Then after you exit the user set depth menu set the “zero” point by rotating the down feed handle until your bit touches the top of your work piece then press the Zero/Confirm button. This sets the zero point to the top of your work. Now when you drill the motor will stop at the correct depth relative to your work.
Hope this helps.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!
Have you RTFM? It's not the best written user manual but it does contain all the info needed to figure out the various facilities of the Voyager.
Personally I found the need to confirm a setting somewhat confusing at first. Many electronic user interfaces don't have the extra confirmation step but instead assume the setting you made as you exit the setting-screen. The Voyager usually wants you to press the confirm button as the final step. If you don't, exiting the setting screen changes nothing.

Yes I have read the manual several times. Computers came along, long after I was out of college. I was working on it with some success. I believe I would have figured it out in time. About the worst manual have ever read.
