Has anyone built Mark White’s walking arm saw described in Fine WOodworking’s 1988 book on building & modifying power tools? I’m interested in modifying it for ripping long boards, and am interested in anyone’s experiences with this or similar homemade bandsaws. (I’m already checking out Gulliam kits, which seem weak compared to White’s design.)Thanks.

Check FW#24 It has plans for a walking beam saw.
*I put quite a number of hours and $100+ on bearings, metal strapping, etc and the finished product did not rip well at all, even with a piece of ripsaw bandsaw blade. Took it apart, considered it an expensive lesson not to be repeated.
