Although I’ve done a little carving as a simple embellishment to a furniture project, this is my first real carving project. The panel is a 42 X 14 glued-up basswood piece with a simple thin frame to set it off from the background where it will be mounted. La cucina is Italian for kitchen. You may remember my asking about sitting or standing to carve it.

Jimma,
Very, very nice work! I hope you have an appropriately fine place to hang it up and show off your fine work and skill!!

Simply beautiful work! I haven't carved for years, your wonderful carving is almost enough to prompt me to have a go again!
Take care, Mike
So you didn't think "a chidsin" was the way to go, mo cara?
Congratulations on finishing the big project and on such a nice job. It looks like a worthy item to kick off a wholesale kitchen remodel, no?
Well, just think about it: "chidsin" has all those curvy letter forms, although in upper case it wouldn't be too bad. Galley would be better. EAT would work. Maybe next time. Right now I don't want to see another carving chisel !
You know, at the mall from time to time, these guys set up to make address plaques and signs using routers. You can even get them made while you wait or try on shoes at Dillards. It looks like a good system... (grinning, ducking, running)
It will noi doubt come to mind the next time Alice says "how about making a _____".You can come out now.
Awesome, Jim! Makes me think of an Italian country kitchen - I had an Italian neighbor one time who had a kitchen like that. You could go over any time of day, any day, and she always, without fail, produced something good to eat. Good food was just made to appear instantly, as if by magic.
