This may seem like a silly question, and I believe I know the answer, but here goes.
Does walnut naturally darken over time? Having never worked with it before, I am curious as to what my product may look like in a few years.

It actually lightens over time.
gets ligt and then turns grey sam as any wood.;
PS heavy coats of spar varnish only slightly slows the process!
What about after finishing? Does it still grey? Your statement "just like any wood" made me wonder.
aguita,
Typically, walnut exposed to the sun will bleach out to almost the color of maple over a long period of time. This occurs only at the surface, and a shaving from a plane, or scraper, will expose the dark wood again.
Depending on the finish used, and if kept away from the sun, this process may be slowed, or the wood may darken. Linseed oil darkens as it oxidises, so walnut treated with linseed oil may get darker, not lighter, if it's in Grandma's parlor where the shades are kept drawn.
Regards,
Ray
