Hi all! I recently bought my first lathe (used $50). However the guy I bought them from wasn’t willing to part with the tools. I was wondering if anyone would be interested in parting (pun intended) with some of your tools that you aren’t using. I’m looking for the few basics starters for turning spindles etc. no bowls yet. I want quality HSS and thought I’d try the used market first.
Thanks Eric

You might check on Ebay. They will list wood lathe tools from time to time. You should look for HSS Tools. Brand names are Sorby, Taylor, Hamlet, Crown as listed most of the better lathe tools are made in England. Good luck. George

Scrapers are pretty easy to make if you wanna go that direction.

Harbor Freight has a set of 8 HSS tools for $40 (or $30). Could make sense if you don't have a lot of experience sharpening these things - grind and burn the cheap ones, then buy better. And the tools are fine for spindle work.
