Hello,
Discussion Forum
I recently moved into a new apartment and am wanting my furniture to match as much as possible. I have 3 things here, a white dresser that feels untouched with no smooth glossiness like the other two. Then have this table with a neutral brown tone, and part of a kitchenette which I have yet to assemble that is a brassy orange brown and blonde color.
I’m wanting to get the white dresser and the brassy wood to be like the neutral brown.
I’m unsure of the names of these colors and as I said the dresser texture seems bare and the others are sealed and glossy. So I’m not sure what I should buy. Links would be greatly appreciated!

Hey,
Is the unfinished wood heavy? I ask because the close grain could be any number of wood and different woods finish differently. It shouldn't be hard to match the brown, though. I'd try to match the color with dyes or stains. It shouldn't be too hard.
The brown looks like a fir (pine, spruce, etc.) The tannin content in firs is low so the finishes can be blotchy, especially in knots. Otherwise it's a good color. I applaud your choice. And, orange and blue make brown.
If it matters, I kinda like the burnt sienna in the right photo.
Good luck & I hope I helped,
Mikaol
Thank you for the reply Mikaol. I wouldn't say the white is very heavy actually. I think this has given me some direction for where to take this and neat to learn something new.
Hey,
The reason I asked about the wood's weight was to determine if it's hardwood or softwood. Each has its own challenges when finishing.
