Goofy question, I know, but has anyone ever applied Danish Oil over a Pencil marking/detail in wood?
I made some quarter-inch square-shaped impressions in Cherry and penciled in part of the impression – I like the way it looks and am curious as to what it would like once I oil it. Will it blead, smudge, etc. ?? I’ll probably test it this weekend, but was wondering if anyone out there has had experience with this.
If it doesn’t work, any suggestions for something to use other than a pencil?
Thanks!

I don't know about pencil lead, but if that fails you might try a permanent marker such as Sharpie or Marks-A-Lot. I sign my stuff with these and sometimes oil over the top. (I also finish with spray lacquer, varnish, shellac, etc..) Put the first couple of coats on lightly and don't rub it too much. I use black, but other colours are available of course from art shops. I've seen greys which might emulate pencil lead.
