We need to apply a clear finish to our doug fir interior window & door trim. Having applied the Waterlox on the floors and front door, we like the look (aside from slight runs on the door) but the curing odor is not pleasant.
I used 2 coats of Minwax Polycrylic, their water based polyurethane, over one coat of Zinsser Bullseye sanding sealer on our baseboards. Looks decent, but a little “built up”. (BTW I found that the Zinsser product flows much better than Benjamin Moore’s – I noted that several FWW authors used Zinsser and now know why).
We tried test pieces using Watco (natural) and Mixwax Tung Oil finish. Has anyone used these products for finishing windows and doors?

I would suggest a wipe-on poly. It is just as easy to apply as any wipe-on BUT it leaves behind the most protective resins in camparison to other wipe-ons. Poly will protect against liquid H2O and vapor better than other wipe-ons.
Maybe you should consider a nice expensive brush. I much prefer to use a brush than a wipe-on. Getting into and out of nooks and crannies is easy with a brush. Kinda longer and fiddly with a wipe-on. If you have your heart set on using a wipe-on, use lambs wool as an applicator. It holds tons of fluid and leaves a nice smooth application. It's still lame compared to a good brush.
Just an opinion. I hope all goes well for ya.
