I am in the process of installing and finishing wood floors in my new house. I had planned on using a home-brew oil finish because I wanted something that was easier to spot repair than urethane-based varnish. I stumbled upon Waterlox processed tung-oil varnish as an alternative. I have been working through some application issues and have found the people at Watelox (Jay Hawkins) to be very helpful. I have not had many experiences like this where I can get such quick and consice answers to my questions. I think it is important to support companies that go the extra mile to serve their customers.
I have yet to see how this product will work when complete, but I am hopeful. I am confident that this product will give me the repairability of oil without sacrificing protection. I have finished floors in the past with straight danish oil finishes but they were not very resistant to water or common household chemicals. I’ll post later when the first floor is done.

I did a floor in my house a couple months ago with Waterlox. I also dealt with Jay Hawkins, and I second everything you said.
You also can save a bunch of money buying direct from Waterlox. I saved about $12/gallon, even after shipping.
Good stuff, doesn't even smell too bad.
