I installed CVG fir floors, stained and oiled and put on paste wax. They are dull and I’d like them to buff to a “glow” or soft shine. Any ideas?I do use a Clarke floor buffer with a yellow pad. Thanks!

Sorry,, Late post.. I would try the folks in Breaktime.. They can be sort of "ROUGH" on ya but OK folks!
To get much of a shine from a wood floor, you have to make the surface optically smooth, or at least start to approach optically smooth. With harder woods, you can do that just with abrasives, no finish required. In my experience, fir isn't hard enough for that approach, so you have to fill the microscopic roughness with something. Film forming finishes do that in just a few coats. You can do it with oil finishes, but it takes many more coats. I saw a mention once in a gunsmithing book of 24 coats of linseed oil on walnut before you start to get much shine. Or you can put on a few coats of oil and finish filling with wax. If you've ever spit shined shoes, you have an idea of how many coats of paste wax it takes to build up an optically smooth surface. If you don't have the patience for that, I guess the next step is to start with thin coats of a high build liquid floor wax.
