Hi all,
I’m looking for good sites to buy some tools on the net. Right now I’m interested in the Veritas shouler plains, especially the large model.
I would appreciate any comments an site suggestions.
Thanks
Len

I'd recommend Lee Valley Tools. I think they are the actual manufacturers of the Veritas line. Their website is leevalley.com
Yes the Veritas line is made and by Lee Valley. I have their smoothing plane. Lee Valley is a great company to do business with.Howard
Red,
Depending on what 'tools' you're seeking, Amazon.com can be a great place to shop. I've bought a ton of stuff cheaper than anywhere else and they always seem to have free shipping.

I'd encourage you to go directly to Lee Valley for any and all Veritas tools -- they're an excellent company, deserving of the extra profit you'd provide doing it that way. Note on their web site it's important to select the right currency.
Are you looking mostly for hand tools, power tools, or both? Many of the power tool links you find when Googling will end up going to Amazon, even though the search hit has a different name on it.
Lee Valley (Veritas), GarrettWade. Woodcraft. I try to buy my power tools locally if I can, but Amazon is a place I always check for "killer deals." If the local place comes pretty close to Amazon, I'll always get it there, but I can't pass up saving $75! Northwest Powertools is a good place to browse, and they have pretty good prices. Haven't bought anything there yet though.

Thanks Forrest Girl & all that answered my question. I agree with you about bying locally but I keep reading about all these great buys that are gotten by people on this site,so I figured I would try. I think I will end up with Lee Valley.
You guys and gals are great.

I thought that in my original post I said I was mostly interested in the Veritas shoulder plane.

Seemed like it was a now-and-later type question. "I'm looking for good sites to buy some tools on the net."forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)Another proud member of the "I Rocked With ToolDoc Club" .... :>)
