The use of wedges being  used on benches seems to have generated some interest.  The bench I was going to build had 2 vises on it.  The price tag was 300+ dollars just for the iron and thats why I asked about wedges.  I like the einstein qoute though, it makes you think a little about maybe wedges are good in various situations, but maybe at least 1 vise needs to be on a vise.  Lets here some more about wedges and some pictures to show.   This was just an idea I had, and soon I will be at the drawing and see what I can come up with.
