I’m stumped. The only reason for encountering this problem is a fault somewhere in the Blum factory, but that seems so unlikely I thought I’d mention it here.
I ordered straight arm 120 degree hinges (71T5550) that, when using a 4.5mm plate for face frame applications and boring the cup hole 4.5mm from the edge, should give me a 1/2″ overlay.
The hinges I ordered are stamped 70T5550 on the cup, but they look like half cranked hinges (the 71T5650 or 70T5650 hinge) and the overlay is just a few mm’s. The attached photo shows what I got and the very non-1/2″ overlay.
Anyone ever encounter this kind of problem? To me, it looks like hinge got the wrong cup and thus the wrong model #.
I ordered this through a reputable source who is looking to fix the problem for me, but I thought I’d mention it here.

Hi Paul,
They are half cranked hinges. The straight arm ones should get you closer to the 1/2" overlay. I use Blum hinges all the time with the 1/2" overlay like you are doing. I am in the house now but if you would like I'll go down to the shop and get all the particulars on what I use. You might need a different mounting plate also.

Yep, I use the 107 degree straight arm and I can see that the hinges I got aren't right. I just have a hard time believing Blum would make a batch of hinges with the wrong code stamped on them, and then a distributor would then unwittingly ship the wrong hinges. But I'm convinced that's what happened.
No need to send any further info; pretty soon I'll have the clip top section of the Blum catalog memorized.Recommending the use of "Hide Signatures" option under "My Preferences" since 2005
