I purchased some 8/4 wenge. On the outside the color was what I wanted, beautiful black with brown streaks. I wanted to make a picture frame and when I cut the stock on the band saw inside was tan. Will the stock turn black again with time? I didn’t have this with some 4/4 stock I used to make drawer pulls.

It does darken on exposure, but not much.... It also takes a penetrating solvent stain very well, so you can match it any way you like very easily.
Wet it down with solvent to see what you can expect. Wenge usually goes quite dark even if it looks tan when freshly cut.
