Would these clamps (Bessey LC-4) be of use in a woodshop? I seem to remember seeing them in use either in a video or pictures, but can’t remember specifically what for:

Hi FG... They look like they would work better/faster/easier than a
C-Clamp. There is ALWAYS a need for a deep throat, quick acting clamp. My motto is 'You never have enough clamps' so why not invest in a few. Isn't that what the Government rebate check was for???

Those are the greatest little clamps you could want!!!!!! quick easy and grip like crazy. They are also made for Festool for use on their table. I use one on my router table fence(my fence pivots from a pined left side and clamp the right. Pricey and only have one, wish I had 6.

FG,
I agree w/ Steve......but, of course, everyone does on the need for clamps.
I have a couple of the screw type welding clamps
http://www.besseytools.com/products/metal/SQ_STB.php
& some of the KliKamps
http://www.besseytools.com/products/wood/KliKlamp.php
It looks too me like the ones you posted would combine the best of those two.
I think maybe the KilKlamp is the one I've seen before. Thanks for the links.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
FG,
Particularly in my little shop with benches without vises, I often have a need for deep throated clamps like the one you have pictured. I have a few Bessey clamps, but I hadn't seen this one before. It looks exactly like what I was wanting yesterday . . .
"It looks exactly like what I was wanting yesterday . . ." Well, a day late maybe, but they're on sale at Amazon for $31.44, got an email today. They also have the 24" Jet clamps on sale, and I need a couple of them. I've had to drag out the really long ones a couple of time for lack of a 24". Darned things are heavy!forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Thanks! The Jets look an awful lot like the Bessey "K." How do they compare?
I like the Jets better. Lee Hingle likes the Bessey's better. We traded awhile back. The Jets will stay closed on a hanging rack, where the Bessey's don't. The Jets are ruled down the bar, an attachment that allows you to put them in dog-holes on a bench, and a quick-release trigger to move the head up and down. They are, however, heavier than the Besseys.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
I've not used the Jets, but I did have a guy at Rockler try to sell them to me when I asked him about some Bessey clamps. He didn't give a very good pitch, just pointed to the Jet boxes which were under a workbench and said they were on sale. I guess I should have looked into it more closely then (probably a couple of months ago).
He must be a Bessey Man, LOL!forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
If you like the Jet clamps get them soon !! The price is going to jump radically by about $10 ea.

Awww, geez, Bruce, I was tryiing to hold onto my wallet!forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
There's a two-pack of the 24" Jet clamp for $72.33, much cheaper than ordering two of the singles that are on sale. Free shipping with "Super Saver."

These clamps are nice, but what I'd like is something like the Jorgenson hold-down, but with gecko feet, so it holds to the bench surface by itself. ;-)
Amazon also has a 2 pack of 40 inch Jet clamps for $65 with free shipping.
I've got enough of the long ones, insufficient short ones. Thanks, though, somebody needs them I'm sure.

Forest:
Two weeks ago or so I got two Jet Clamp kits... 'Kits?' I was looking for Bessey clamps but none there.. They use to have them.
I asked the manager for her BEST! 45 degree angle they had so I could check a few clamps. I opened two 'kits' and checked most of the clamps they had on a rack.. Took an hour of two...
All were OK as best as I could tell. Had nothing to really test when clamped tight but she offered some wood from the racks... Most 'sticks' there are rough sawn edges so.... (Those that had surfaced edges I did not want to use.. Hate to ruin it for the person that would purchase it!) Not a good test in my mind.
Anyway, they work well and I also got a rebate for $65.00 on each 'kit'.. OK, so it turned out to be like them $19.95 ads you see on TV... Valued at $65.00. Or maybe not.. Rebate was for two 12" (I think) clamps valued at $65.00..
Anybody like me? I HATE REBATES! Why not save us both some money and give me the 'rebate' as a suprize!
Edit: Somehow it got posted before I was finished....
I also bought 4 50 inch? I believe.. The 48's never seem to fit what I am making.. Wee.. Bit short!
Anyway, nice clamps in my point of view.. Not inexpensive but very reasonable even at Rocklers prices!

I have several similar clamps in various sizes from another manufacturer and find them quite handy.
