I am looking for a 14 in. band saw. What do you think about the General 90-100 (sheet metal) or the General 90-125 (traditional cast iron) machines? I have not seen any reviews on the 90-100. I have also looked at Jet and Delta.

IHave a look at the 90-150. I recently purchased a General International 14 inch bandsaw. After looking at both of the models you mention, I opted for their other 14 inch model, the 90-150. I picked that one out because of: better dust chute; great blade tensioning lever, which allows detensioning and retensioning in half a second; larger resawing capacity (8 inches), and better fence. On the downside, it does not accept a riser block, and does not readily accept common 93.5 inches blades. The blade size is 97.5 inches, and is available from General, or is to be custom ordered. I had a few blades cut and welded by a local merchant and have been very happy with the machine. Tensioning a ¾ inch resaw blade is easily accomplished, and the resawing is easy and yields a board of fairly uniform thickness. I have been very happy with my purchase.
Just my 2 cents of wisdom.

What do you think about the quality of their machines?
Have you seen the 90-100? Is is worth considering? I am not worried about resawing stock.

Did you check out the 90-100? I have not seen either saw. I am not worried about resawing stock. Is the 100 a "heavy duty" saw? Should I go with the traditional 125?
I saw the 90-100 and I think it looks a bit flimsy, compared to the 90-150. The 90-125 looks like a clone of the Grizzly/ Delta/ Jet.... They probably all came out of the same factory. The 90-150 is only about $50 more than the other two, and the additionnal features appear to be weel worth the small $$ differential.
I have been quite happy with their quality. In addition to the GI bandsaw, I have their dust collector and air cleaner. I also have the General 650 tablesaw, but that is a Canadian made machine, in a completely different category (and price range).

Last time I looked amazon had last years delta 14" saw with a 1 HP motor ,enclosed base and a mail in form for a riser kit all for 499. Very tempting.

Troy,
I agree. The General 90-125 cost $574 US. Have you ever seen or used General machines. Do you think General makes a better saw?
Mike
Have not seen them side buy side. Troy
