For some time now I’ve been using an old 1/4 chisel that belonged to my grandfather. But only recently became curious about the maker. So I cleaned off the socket and the only letters I can make out are -FCLIPSE- or maybe the first letter is an E. Any body know what I have? The steel seems to be pritty good it holds an edge OK. Thanks, ZABO

It is an Eclipse brand chisel. An Internet search should help you find some information on it. Here is one link I found. http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=13734
In this discussion at Sawmill they say the Eclipse chisels aren't very good. Don't take this to heart. I have an old Stanely Defiance that supposedly isn't any good either and it is my favorite chisel, takes and holds a very sharp edge. I also have some with "Worth" stamped on them that are propably a cheap no-name brand that work just as well as a set of Stanley 750s I own.
