I’ve been staring at this beautiful close in shot on the FWW website for years. I want to make it and think it’s a hall table. Does anyone know what article, project this is from? Many thanks.
Sincerely
Joe

I am pretty sure this is a variation of Mike Pekovich's floating top table:

Thanks. It does have that look. The picture is so beautifu in that close upl, I'd like to believe there is a stand along article or a full picture of it. Fingers crossed Ben Strano will respond, he know everything after all.
dang it. Now I gotta! Ya, that's a floating top table of Mike's in red birch and maple(?).
Thanks Ben. If you can find any other link to it I'd be grateful. Mike might know. I'm thinking to make it out of tiger maple top and curly cherry bottom using ebony dowels (assuming ebony can work as a dowel).
It's basically this table:

From Mike:
I had made it as a commission. It’s used as a prop in a finishing article in 245.
Thanks Ben!
The one upside I had over the weekend was to think about the close up image and joint. My wife has been waiting a family room entertainment center ever since we moved into the home 10 years ago. That floating table and the beautiful joint would look nice in a low cabinet to house the tv and AV equipment. Call it a derivative of Mike's awesome work. I was looking for this entertainment center to be craftsman/shaker/prairie style and I think that "Mike's joint" will work nicely to accomplish that. Of course, I have the wood in my shop for planned projects likely through 2024 so I have a while to sort out the specifics.
All Hail Ben!

That table is one of the featured projects in Mike’s book, entitled “the how and why woodworking“. There is one page with a fairly detailed diagram of the project in that book.
Thanks.
I still stare at this joint on a regular basis. Simply love it. At some point, I am going to make my wife a larger sized jewelry cabinet to sit on bathroom counter. The base construction will feature this joint for sure. Likely cherry frame and the cabinet itself either some sort of figured maple or sycamore. Sort of a mix of Mike’s work and Krenov’s work. Inside of the case will have one side with lots of drawers similar to a spice chest (I think). All good problems. Just gotta get in the queue.
