Hello everyone,
I’m building a table that will remain on my deck in an area where there will be little/no sun. It will be made of red cedar. I was wondering what glue to use. I have easy access to outdoor PVA, polyurethane, and epoxy. Does one stand out? Or is there something better i could use?
Thank you for any info.

My choice would be epoxy, followed by urea-formadehide(plastic resin, Willhold powdered stuff in a can that you can buy at home depot) Alot chaper than epoxy, too
I have used polyurethane glue successfully on Western Red Cedar on outdoor projects. No problems.
Your joints must be tight and clamped at least overnight. Polyurethane will not fill gaps, and the foaming action will drive apart unclamped joints.
I've never tried epoxy.
Dano,
Resorcinol, Weldwood Plastic Cement, and Epoxy should all fit the bill. None of them are prone to creep, and all of them provide reasonable open time and weather resistance.
Good luck,

Whether you think you can, or you think you can't, you're right.
thank you everybody. I'm going to go with epoxy. I've used it before and it worked well. The gap filling property is a nice safety net.
Just out of curiosity, no one mentioned outdoor PVA, not many fans of it out there i guess. I've never tried it.

If you're talking about Aromatic Red Cedar, regular ol' PVA works just fine, the type II is even better. There's no need to go with an expensive adhesive.
