I have some 4/4 wamara. It has a mildly yellow sapwood and a redish brown heartwood. I would like to use it to make some raised panels for a hope chest. I just don’t know what would go with it (what would to use for the lid, rails, and stiles). Anyone have any ideas? I was considering ebonizing some oak or using purpleheart (there is a mild purple to the heart wood). Anyone have any ideas? Anyone ever use Wamara? I prefer to use natural colors and stay way from staining if i can.
Below is a link to what the wamara looks like

a,
had a look at that link and it seems the stuff is a pain in the ass to work. were i doing raised panels, i would use the wamara for the panels and probably go with your idea of using purple heart for the stiles and rails. post a photo when you're done.

Contrast wood
Depending on where you want the contrast. I would consider either Wenge, maybe a little course or Canary wood(my preference) for the stiles and rails. No reflection on you, but I HATE purple heart
After looking around some more...i think i may go with claro walnut. The Wenge may be too modern and i don't know how the end product would look being so black. I don't have any wenge in the shop right now but i plan on checking it out next time im at lumber yard. thanks guys.
