What is it – a ??? hammer and some ??? bits?
The hammer is 11″ long and the head is 3.5″ x almost 3/4″. It was in a box with ten bits (?). What are they? Thanks PS The forum software wouldn’t let me upload a second photo that had a more detailed view of the bits. They are a slightly tapered square at one end and there is a small through hole that end. The other end is rounded.

The hammer looks like just a small cross pein hammer that is often used to drive small brads. Starting them with the cross pein end lets you hold them in your fingers and still start them. The "bits" look like tuning pegs out of a piano. Do they have a very very fine thread on them? If this stuff was kept together then the hammer may have been used to drive the tuning pegs partway into their holes instead of screwing them all the way down.

Agree about the piano Tuning pegs - though I've not seen threaded pegs personally as they are often force fit (better use of the hammer) Although I have not seen many tuning pegs removed from a piano other than the one I had growing up.
