What is the best way to stain and finish Eucalyptus pommelle.
I am building a media cabinet using eucalyptus pommelle veneers. Due to its highly figuired nature I am having trouble acheiving an even color. I have tried both dye stains and oil stains. My prefence is to finish with a hand rubbed tungoil.. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,Rob

Dye should work, so if not first let me ask which specific dyes you have tried. The brand could be important. No telling if the stupid spam filter will let you. Lets hope.
Charles Neil's pre-finish conditioner
Has anyone tried this product to see if it really does control blotching as he advertises?
I agree with Steve that dye should work. Lockwood has a wide variety of colors and colr charts. The waterbase worked fine on Honduran mahogany for me. Just be sure to flood the wood with water first to raise the grain so the dye application doesn't.
