What is the purpose for each of the Carver’s Burrs
Hello, I understand Hand Carving what each tool either gauge or a chisel what their use is and so on. On the other hand, if I am just exploring the idea of utilizing power tools for carving. My question, for the Burrs as in the link in Lee Valley. http://www.leevalley.com/wood/page.aspx?c=1&p=31016&cat=1,130,43409 Please tell me what is the use of each one of the Carver’s Burrs are used. Is there any resources to explain what the purpose is for each one. I have recently reviewed several carving books but none addressed this subject. Thank you for your feedback. Meezo

Removing stock? ;-)
You have to think in terms of what the final, or near-final shape you want for an area of the piece you're working. That, in turn, will suggest the selection of a burr with the corresponding shape and location of its cutting surface. In many cases, only part of the burr's profile is used, and often rather gingerly to accomplish what you want.
Note, too, that hand piece of the flex shaft into which the burr is chucked limits the direction from which the burr can be used. And, the burrs aren't generally intended for "hogging out" large amounts of material. So, whether a motor-driven burr is faster than an appropriate hand-wielded chisel is open to discussion and varying opinions.
