I just stained a new pine desk with a Minwax wb stain, and I’d like to use an oil on it to “soften” the finish. Can anyone recommend one that would look good and react well with the stained pine?

I think Danish Oil might be a good choice. Go to http://www.woodfinishingsupplies.com the have a great line of finishing supplies and their prices are the best I've seen.
Oh the guy that owns the place is Russ and he's very helpful, Just email him your question and he'll help you make the right choice.
