I was in an antique mall the other day and came across this item. I don’t know what it is and was wondering if anyone out there have any ideas. Please comment back with your ideas. Thanks in advance.

Hard to tell from your picture, but it looks like one foot of a cast iron stove. ???
Whats the other side look like?
Both sides look pretty much the same, only difference is the side in the pic that the hand is in shows a knurled knob that's attached to a "1/4 threaded bolt, also on the narrow end on the end is a small piece of metal that's dimpled to match two dimples in the case its self, the small piece of dimpled metal, pivots. Also in the small tapered end on the end there's a whole that's in line just below the knurled knob.
On the opposite wider end on the end its self there's two screws,I took them out, inside the case there's a small piece of rubber.
On the face of the case it looks like a deer or antelope or some kind of antlered animal.
The whole things made out of aluminum,I thought when I first seen it it might be an old chalk box of some type or maybe for reloads for a black powder gun but everyone who's looked at it's stumped.
Again any help will be appreciated.

I think I figured it out: it's a blurry picture of a black metal thing. Am I close? :-)
It looks like part of a specialized hold-down clamp. Or maybe the handle of a scraper. Are you sure it has anything to do with woodworking?
