R, bought some of John Wilson's material to get a start in making a bunch of oval Shaker boxes for my ladies for Christmas. Two daughters, one daughter-in-law and a grand-daughter. My grand son gets a little tool box tote. My son and son-in-law get a handshake as I already gave them some serious good tools and they just gather dust. Paddy
I'll be moving houses at the end of November... New place doesn't have power or heat yet, that's got to wait until after I add a bedroom to the basement.
On the brighter side, I'm going from a two to a three car garage with higher ceilings! My wife wants a car in the garage... but on the bright side my portion will still increase by about 60 sq ft, and will be all mine...
I plan to replace all my furniture in my room with the stuff I built. So, bureaus, a desk, bed, tv stand, I am excited.
I plan to take mid November until mid March OFF. (Like this will happen. LOL) I have been going at it 10-12 hrs. a day 6 days a week.
I'm working on a Q/A tea table. Has to be done by Thanksgiving :)
I'm working on 11 bandsaw boxes (designed by Lois Keener Ventura from her Building Beautiful Boxes With Your Band Saw), each with a different wood - - for Christmas gifts for family members.
I'm not building something for the house, I'm building the house! We hope to be in by Xmas. Being a downsized, 1,110 sq ft retirement home, I foolishly thought it would go faster than our previous 2,800 sq ft home. But a small house has the same amount of systems to be installed (DWV, heating, electrical, HRV, laundry, etc.,) and shoehorning them into smaller spaces has consumed the anticipated time savings. Nor do systems for half-sized houses cost half as much.
Making a mahogany music stand for my father in law who teaches and plays music. And if my wife is especially good this year, maybe something for her!
I've received a commission (read:command) from my wife to build a full-length dressing mirror. She gave me a file yesterday with about 2 dozen different "ideas".
"No rush.", she said, "as long as I get it by next week."
She'll get it for ChrisHannaKwanza.......
I researched the price for the glass and got quotes on 1/8" and 1/4" (24"X72"). Money isn't really an object for this small project. Which thickness would you choose? The glass isn't tempered.......

I've made a couple of these. It's amazing how heavy that glass is. I'd use the 1/8"
I voted Clean Up The Shop..
Sort of like a 'wish' you make at New Years' Never gets done unless my leaf blower won't push it out the door!
My shop is not heated so a real bummer!
Just more payin' work. Bill collectors don't care if it's the holidays!
Building kitchen cabinets for a neighbor's new house. The cabinets are being built with some beautiful quarter-sawn walnut I've got on hand, gives me a chance to actually use some of this wood that I milled several years ago. The drawers are made of quarter-sawn hackberry, through-dovetails on all corners. Drawer pulls will be shop-made of cherry colored using lye.
"High tech" ;-) Laying Oak strip floor in Kitchen and Dining room.
Work Safe, Count to 10 when your done for the day !!

A guitar for my son. We're both players and I made one for myself this Summer and decided to make one for my son as well. 'course my wife can't understand why we each need more than one guitar, after all, she only has one piano! Good thing she doesn't realize that before I am done I'll have at least four!

First on my list of bigger projects is an entertainment center for daughter and new SIL, probably after Christmas. Then first project for the house is new vanities for master bath to replace the el-cheapos from the box store that were the cheapest ones they had when I finished the master bedroom/bath in our house 20 years ago, about time to build some decent ones. Also have a lengthy list of small projects for Christmas gifts, mostly from the lathe.
Took a bad fall in late May breaking femur, hip, knee, etc. Had last surgery (hopefully) two weeks ago so I am really ready to make some sawdust. Probably haven't spent 5 hours out there since Memorial Day. Finally feel like I am getting close to be able to work out there some. At this point I would be happy this weekend to just clean up some sawdust from projects last Spring, enjoy some coffee, and maybe make some new sawdust just so I could clean again!
At this point I would be happy this weekend to just clean up some sawdust...........I just open the garage doors and turn on my snow blower.. Be sure to wear a mask because most seems to come back in and you have do do it over many times!snow blower Maybe it was a LEAF blower!

after all, she only has one piano!I'd get her a Grand piano, Spinet, and a Concert Grand .....Then she will NEVER ask that question again!
Truth be told, my wife gets whatever she wants: her happiness is paramount with me. If we had the room, she'd have whatever piano she wanted. She doesn't really want another piano, she just doesn't understand why one would need/want more than one guitar. She probably would say the same were I to buy another handplane.
New bed which I started Saturday and should be done by next week-end. Then the low dresser and tall chest of drawers. Then.. whatever the "First Lady" dreams about next...
Sarge..
my wife gets whatever she wants.. As it should be..
I was just pullin' your chain a bit...
