Nice! I was just in an antique radio shop this morning looking at old Zenith radios, so I had this sort of music on my mind anyway.

Actually, that picture was just one I found online...I do have some similar radios, but I don't have any digital photos of them.
For Christmas, my brother gave me a 1939 Zenith farm radio, so called since it runs off a 6 volt DC battery (they used them on farms back in the days before rural electrification came along.) It appears to be in really good shape, but before I fire it up I want to check out the circuitry so I was in the radio shop to get a schematic and owner's manual.
This picture is really small but it was the only one I could find online of this particular model. It has a Bakelite case.

Bakelite IS COLLECTABLE!So old I remember my first 'portable radio'.. 1950 or so? I forgets..
All I remembers it was sort of grean...Had this BIG old battery (90 volts? or something?) AND others (fer all the tube grids) Batteries cost more than the radio! Same as these days!EDIT::
Green?

A side interest. When you look at batteries at a store - You see A. C, D etc. You never see the B. I think that 90 volt battery you are talking about on that radio is the B, and of course, they aren't of much demand anymore so are are not included on the shelf with the other batteries.
Thanks for the old-timey tune.
Did you have to do anything special to get the song to play when opened or did you just upload a music file?
Did you have to do anything special to get the song to play when opened or did you just upload a music file?Yep.. Just uploaded the file (which is why the title 'What the Heck! I'll try') Not sure if it was allowed in here.. BUT you have to have a player on your PC that will play it..Just love that old song and it seemed fitting 'thinking' of that wet wood out there..By the way.. Brought it inside.. set it all up against the wall and let it 'drip'... LOL... No snickering.. All went well... Well, at least until I try to use it!
...and dancing broke out...thanks, needed that afer the Pat's game last night.
Let us know about the jail thing...we got old chisels we can send..:)
