This is a room in a model home my wife and I saw and is the best picture I could come up with showing the wood grain.
We would like to re-trim our home and put in new interior doors and we really love this trim.
Any ideas what wood species this is?

stained soft maple?
If the cabinets are commerical grade then they could be stained maple. If they are maple, they probably have been dyed then had a stain applied over top. The owner of my local hardwood lumber store taught me how to stain maple a couple of years ago. The trick is using shellac first. You can make maple look like cherry if your really good.
Stained maple makes sense, but another possiblity is red birch. Looks very like cherry but often has the wilder grain like your upper cabinets display. Of course it could be cherry.
Maple, red birch or real cherry are possibilities. What I would do is contact the builder or developer where you saw the model and ask them. No reason why they wouldn't give you the info.
Be aware though, no matter what the wood, the wood has probably been stained and/or toned. Most factory kitchen cabinetry is colored with colored lacquer so just knowing the wood may not really answer your question.
