What’s happening to Black Walnut prices?
Going up? Going down? What have people been paying lately for FAS grade?
I figure saw mill prices and kiln drying prices will be going up quite a bit due to energy costs. Also transportation and shipping costs.

I paid $3.43/ft select and better about the same as I paid a year ago.

Milling my own logs paid for itself the first year. Prices are rediculous for hardwood these days. You'd be suprised how many logs are available if you know where to look.

I know where to look, just not always convenient to get there from here! (I got 6000 to 8000 bf standing on my place up in OK)

I hear ya. I just filled my woodshed last year with cherry, walnut, and maple. I've got 37 acres, with lots of hardwoods, and my neighbor is in the tree removal business. When he gets something nice, he drops it off, I mill it, and we usually split it.
Jeff
FAS Cherry is down to $4.00/bdft.
FAS Walnut is up to 3.90/bdft.
I usually pay about $3/bdft premiun over those prices.
Where U located?
