What gives with ToolTalk? I am seeing very little activity over there. Has everyone gravitated here on a permanent basis?

As far as I know, Knots and Breaktime predate Tooltalk. Althought some may disagree, I find it redundant, and don't understand why it was created in the first place.

When did Tooltalk come into being? I rarely fo there, and I bet few realize it is there.
IIRC, Tool Talk was spawned as a place to discuss the first Tool Review special that Taunton put out. To say it is redundant is an understatement. It has long outlived its usefullness, few people posted there for the original purpose anyway, near as I could tellforestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)Another proud member of the "I Rocked With ToolDoc Club" .... :>)
OH, I was under the impression, based on discussion group headings, from when I first started lurking, that Knots was for woodworking questions/issues while Tool Time was for tool questions/issues.1 - measure the board twice, 2 - cut it once, 3 - measure the space where it is supposed to go 4 - get a new board and go back to step 1
From what I can see, it starts back in 1/20041 - measure the board twice, 2 - cut it once, 3 - measure the space where it is supposed to go 4 - get a new board and go back to step 1
I have the same question about "House Chat". It seems to be pretty much the same as Breaktime but doesn't seem to have much activity.
Howdy,
As I recall, there was a rather lengthy thread regarding Tooltalk some time in the last year - an advanced search may turn something up. Don't know about House Chat - I've never even looked at it.
I haven't got a clue about Taunton's intentions or motivation in starting so many apparently overlapping chat rooms: from my persepective, they're "watering down the punch," if you get my drift.
Sorry I can't provide additional info,

I post on Breaktime if I feel really down and want to get lower...
as an aside, are there any other message boards
that you folks reccommend?
I hear breaktime come up often in conversation.
If Tool Talk is the answer, what the hell was the question!?

I'd guess Taunton Press thought 'Different Folks Different Strokes!'
They never thought folks would hang out where us 'NICE' folks are..
