Fellow Woodworkers
I am in the market for a drill press wheel/circular cutter device. Never having used one of these devices I have no experience to judge performace and make a wise choice from the marketplace.
Therefore, I would greatly appreciate recommendations and sources from anyone who has tried various devices for cutting wheels and/or circle patterns from wood, and offer best advice accordingly.
Thanks in Advance
Mark

Mark, what you are looking for is a circle cutter. Mine is about ten years old, haven't any idea what brand. First thing you do is spray paint the ends of the adjustable bar, when the drill press is running it is easier to see it. You will lose fingers if the bar hits them. Set drill press to slow speed, about 450 rpms. High speeds do not cut, they over heat cutter and dull quickly. Make a skectch of the original cutter so in the future you hone it to the same angle. Very easy to sharpen, honing on a stone is all you need. ALWAYS clamp the work, if you can't clamp it don't use the circle cutter on that piece.Circle cutters are not exspensive, price may be indication of quality, not always though. Try a google search for circle cutters and maybe a forum that deals with wood toymaking, I imagine their are some and they would tell you what brands are suitable.
