I have seen many good radial arm saws on Craigslist, very inexpensively. I would stick with an old Delta from the late 60s.
I had a Craftsman 10” radial arm that I tried to sell then found out there was a safety recall from years ago that Emerson was offering $100 to send the motor back so I did because since I bought a 12” Dewalt compound sliding mitre and a Woodpecker router table that I wouldn’t need it, well now I kinda wish I had kept it. I’ve had that saw since like 1974. I was actually trying to make space in my small crowded basement shop. Oh well!
Thank you. Anyhow, so much for the saw. New query: I have several pieces of 2x2 Jatoba that I need to rout 1/2x 1+1/4 channels for a display at a 45 degree angle so the objects stand perpendicular to the display table.
Check CL if you don’t mind paying, there’s always someone selling one for $200 more than it’s worth, that or any dumpster because that’s where they belong
You must have had a bad experience on CL. I outfitted my entire shop with high quality tools from CL, paid half the price and have had nearly no problems. Of course, you have to know what you are looking at and be prepared to do some cleanup and updating.

Thank you, Wap94. Think I'll give it a try.
In the meanwhile, what does the word "spalted" mean as it applies to spalted Tamarind? It's a beautiful wood, I'd just like to know where it got its name.
Spalting happens when a fungus invades the wood and creates various lines and patterns in the wood layers. In light colored wood the lines create stunning visual effects, but there is a down side.......the wood should really only be used decoratively since its strength is diminished due to the spalting. The fungus basically is destroying the wood fibers. It's also not a good idea to used spalted wood in contact with food.
Thank you. One less in the million things I planned on knowing before I reached 70. One year and 10 months to go. Or 1503.7 per day:)
