It has been a long time but I think it is similar to an Inca.
If you do a google search it appears that Metabo owns them now.

Try Mini Max or Laguna
Jack
Yeah I think Mini-Max and/or Laguna sell somthing like this. I think it's just a combination machine.

Sure there is...Rikon is the first one I can think of. Obviously nothing like that is made in America. http://www.rojekusa.com/PHP/index.php Rojek is another one and the list grows with bigger and more expensive units from Minimax. Robland, Felder, Paolini and many other European units with names most folks in this country would never have heard of but they are available here such an Andreou, SCM, Linvincible. FWW isn't really that up to date on the real world of woodworking by any means. It's really pretty far behind the times.
Also Mafell http://www.mafell.com/produkte/prod_hobeln_fr.htm
Metabo doesn't offer one in the states.

Thanks. Yeah, I was aware of the minimax, laguna, and other big, very expensive european machines. The one I linked seemed a little smaller and less expensive -- kind of like the old inca, maybe a little beefier. I'm skeptical of the Rikon; it seems too light and flimsy, but if anyone here has experience with it, I'd sure like to know what you think. I was not aware that the rojek is selling for such a good price. That makes it just nearly within reach. Anybody here used a rojek?
I'm kind of surprised that Jet, Powermatic, Delta, etc haven't gotten around to producing combo jointer-planers. They just seem so logical.
I saw the Rikon at a show and it looked pretty good. I know someone with the 18" bandsaw and he loves it. I've had personal experience with Inca tools and to me it seemed more toylike especially after working with heavy industrial equipment, but on the other hand it's not so much the machine as the operator in my opinion and experience. When I worked for a dealer as a tech we had an Electra Beckum we got some where and this was before the net and it was impossible to find parts.
Delta and PM are dinosaurs in their thinking. They don't even offer a horizontal slot mortiser. European machines are so far ahead and Taiwan will be there before Delta and PM.

EB are good but I bought an inexpensive chop saw which has their name but is more DIY than I expected. We have an advantage in the UK with our 230 volt system, or 440 three phase. And the dollar exchange is now bad for you.
I know guys who brought tools over there and your 50 hertz was no problem with our 60 hertz tools. Just runs a bit slower. I'm not sure if there would be a problem with running a 50 hertz tool over here. Definitely it would run faster but don't know if it would burn up prematurely. I'll ask my motor specialist later. I've sen some others in some copies of the English wood mags. Startrite I think and a few others. Last I saw a lot of them weren't as prevalent with websites. Perhaps now they are. Can you link some of the tool dealers for folks here Mufti...thanks...would be an eye opener for some folks.
I think they overheat. If you have plenty of room try http://daltonswmw.co.uk . Cool drool time!
