Both Hearne Hardwoods in Oxford, PA and Groff & Groff Lumber in Quarryville, PA are very good although a bit of a drive for you. I also have good results by watching the want adds in local news papers. I find material people have had sawn and have air dried, usually a mix of grades and at a fair price. Sometimes you must take the entire lot of 50 to 100 bf.

Shaker,
I lived in the Green Lane area a few years ago and found a small mill near Schwenksville. The guys name is Ron Manns, I have not been there for a few years, but this is the phone number I had for him. He had a nice selection although not big. 610-287-8039.
Good Luck!

Me too, Upper Ridge road...Ron sawed for me..small world huh?
Sphere,
Sure is a small world. Ron is personally responsible for weaning me from Home Dummies when buying lumber. I still have some maple I bought from him years ago, it is at the bottom of the stack, so I don't know when I will get to it or what I will do with it. but sometime..........
Take care, FastEddie
Don't know where you are relative to these guys http://www.irionlumber.com/ but I here they are good but expensive.

I believe that would be about 5 hours, maybe 6, from where he is.

Thank you guys for getting back to me. I just moved in to my house and it has a shop in the back, my wife calls it a two car garage, but it is a workshop. Before I had to go to my parents house. It is nice to have my own workshop, granted it does not have many power tools but I am starting out using hand tools and working my way up to power tools. My first project is to build a sleigh bed. The boss likes the one from Restoration Hardware. So we will see how close I can come to building it like that one but with my own so called flare added to it. Thanks again for giving me some ideas on where to go to get the lumber.
Thanks
