I’m trying to finish building a cedar clost. I’m using 4/4 rough aeromatic cedar to build the shelves, standards, armoires, etc.
I’ve run through all the good stock at the local yard – what’s left isn’t much better than kindling.
All my calls to the mills I know around here and no one carries aeromatic cedar.
Help! I’m in central Connecticut. Does anyone know where I can buy aeromatic cedar, 4/4 roughsawn, 2C or better, random width and length?

Art, Google "Aromatic red cedar" there are many companies that will send you whatever you want.
Beat it to fit / Paint it to match
good suggestion - found lots of manufacturers/suppliers of cedar, but none that sell rough boards or that are close enough to ship it to CT without it breaking me - I'll keep trolling the net....
Did you try Harris Woodworking in Manchester, CT?
Chris
yup - the partners recently broke up - one guy is keeping the name and the design and cabinet business. The other guy is speciallizing in supplying the wood. He's not yet set up, but he told me he isn't planning to carry cedar and unless I ordered a large quantity (1000 bf) he wan't interested.
Did you try Bradley Airport ? ... eh ehh.
Sorry I couldn't resist.

I lined an entire closet with aeromatic cedar. The place I got it from was Koenig Cedar near Burlington, VT. They can be found at http://www.koenigcedar.com. They offer it in 3/8" which is probably good for your chest. I got the 3/4" v-groove and it is wonderful. Very high quality and a wonderful smell. I had it shipped to my home in SE Verrmont and was surprised at how reasonable the cost was. I also had a small installation window and they made sure it arrived exactly when I wanted it.
