I’ve pretty much decided on the Clifton 410, although the Veritas shoulder plane is still a consideration. Money is not really an issue right now (maybe it will be later?) but when I looked online to find a Clifton shoulder plane, the prices were not as vastly different as I remember them being. And no I am not confusing dollars with pounds.
My question is: Where should I buy a Clifton shoulder plane? I’m sure there are a number of places, but are some companies better priced than others, or might have better service?
Thanks, Molly

Whether you think you can, or you think you can't, you're right.
Hartville Tool sells them.
Just an aside, but I have used the 410 and thought it was pretty nice, but out of my price range. On a leap of faith, I bought the Veritas shoulder plane and was amazed. I personally like it better over the 410...as does my neighbor who owns the 410.
Just my 2¢

I've got the 410, and love it. I bought it at Highland Hardware. They have a website, and two years ago, they were the cheapest by about 15 bucks. Haven't checked prices lately, though. Also, Garret Wade tools, and Japan Woodworker sell it.

Have bought from "the best things" and they are really good to deal with. Best prices on most of what they carry.
thanks everyone! i ended up buying it from a man that is a distributor at my school - i had forgotten about him as a source until i saw him standing outside the school the other day. $176. i don't remember what the other prices i saw were, but it seemed good enough and i was able to get it right then and there! and by the way, I LOVE IT!
