Where to find General Table Saws (MA)

I think I’d like to buy the General 10″ Contractor’s Table Saw shown in the FWW Tool & Shop Guide. Trouble is…I can’t find a website for the company or anyone that sells them localy. Does anyone know an online store or Greater Boston area that would dell this saw?

General's website (http://www.general.ca) has a dealer locator. If I remember correctly, they list Beaver Woodworking Supplies in the Boston area as a distributor, as well as a couple of other dealer locations in southern New Hampshire. I've been thinking about the same saw myself...got to check one out at the WoodWorks show in Springfield last month, but I haven't had a chance to visit any of the local distributors.

Hartvilletool.com and Tools-plus.com sell the GI mail order. Hartville's s/h is a fixed $80.....($740 delivered for the 50-185M1). Back order may be an issue. They've sold alot of them since the review. Excellent saw at a great price though....

If you decide not to wait or go with another TS, the new Griz looks to be a good value also, but has a couple of disadvantages to the GI. Griz warranty is only 1 year vs 2, no local dealers, and it requires either a 220v line or a 30amp 110v line.

In addition to Beaver in Brockton you can see all the brands at Brentwood Machine in Brentwood, NH. They also have used machines in the basement. I often stop by there on my way to get wood at Highland Hardwoods...they are about a mile or two apart on Route 125...about an hour north of Boston.

Excellent choice the General, I have a 12" w. 3/4" arbour that needed parts and called the manufacturer in rural Que. Seems my used saw model was retired 55+ years ago, they had worm and quadrant gear on the shelf along with the parts manual reprint that came with my order. Excellent machines especially the domestic models and worth the extra money. Cananian readers should watch for school shop auctions for good used gear.

Aak, check out http://www.wilkemachinery.com I purchased my 10" general 350 from them. Very happy. They also check the machines over before shipping making sure all is ok.
