Where to find metal door bands for st…
*
I’m working on an old stacked/lawyers bookcase, and it needs new metal bands to support the doors. These thin metal bands are about 1/4″ wide and 36″ long (a rough estimate) and run through a track to connect pins on the upper edges of each door.
The metal appears to be spring steel, but it is brittle and cracks quite easily. If I clip the band and drill a new hole in the end to go over a pin, the slightest twisting or pressure will crack the new hole open.
If anyone can tell me where to find new bands I’d really appreciate it. I suppose I could make them myself, since the bands are just strips of thin metal. Any help on this would be great.

http://www.rockler.com has a "barrister bookcase hardware kit", item 10195, $57.99. I've never seen it, so don't know if is what you're after.
